it came in a point of my life that was a very transitional period... I was heading into my senior year of high school and trying to figure out what I wanted to do for college... the album isn't about that; it's about a similar transitional period in your 20s when you're also trying to figure out what's going on... it felt like even though I didn't exactly relate to it, this album kind of made me feel at ease... it made me realize that I didn't have to have my life entirely together that year... sza was a woman in her 20s and struggling to figure out how she should move through life, and I was 17 also trying to figure that out and it made me feel that it was okay that I hadn't yet."

"when I listen to this album now, it evokes the same emotions as it did when i first heard it but with different songs... some of the songs I related to earlier in my life, I don't feel as strongly about as I did then... and some of the songs that I really relate to now, I didn't feel as strongly about back then... even though it doesn't necessarily evoke the same emotion in the same exact way, the overall album itself still gives me the same feelings now as it did then."
